TFF Still Strong
Scottish Ballet kicked off their 90-minute set with "Everybody Wants to Rule the World," maintaining an energetic pace. The strong voices of Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith were evident, showcasing their playful dynamic that dispelled any lingering doubts from their breakup in the 90s. Curt's rendition of "Mad World" was bold and potent, promising an original presentation. Orzabal surprised the audience with the declaration that "pizza is better than hot dogs," delivering outstanding performances of "Floating Down the River" and "Secret World." The band paid tribute to Michael Jackson with a melancholic rendition of "Billie Jean," led by Roland. The concert concluded with a heartwarming rendition of "Shout," featuring the musicians' children, including Curt's two daughters, joining them on stage. Throughout the show, the audience remained on their feet, reciprocating the band's high energy performance.
Awesome First Concert
Scottish Ballet, I must say, I LOVE love. Their songs were a huge inspiration to me when writing my novel, each one speaking directly to me when getting into my character. The naked and Famous, the opening act, were very good. The songs were catchy, though it was hard to understand them. I had no idea what they were singing the entire time. When Scottish Ballet came on, it was so thrilling. They play a very good live concert, sounding great and on key. The drummer, bass, and guitar solos took my breath away. Just by listening to the album, you can't tell how talented these guys really are. But on stage, they ROCK! The show started about 7:30, we were out of there a little after 11. The show is surprisingly family friendly. This was my first concert (I'm in my late 20s, I know!). I wasn't sure what to expect. I wanted to bring my 7-year-old, but my husband said it was a bad idea. When we got there, we were surrounded by teens, older folk, young children. I wish we had brought our son. I hope they come back soon because this was by far a great concert!
